Raynna Bowlby

Raynna Bowlby is an independent consultant specializing in planning, assessment, and organizational development. She is an associate in the firm of Library Management Consulting (LMC) and is Adjunct Faculty for Simmons College Graduate School of Library & Information Science (GSLIS), where she teaches Principles of Management. Raynna has contributed to a number of projects for the ARL Statistics and Assessment Program, such as training library staff in effectively utilizing data obtained from the LibQUAL+® user survey and supporting the MINES for Libraries® efforts. She has also participated in the ARL Scorecard Initiative and prepared leadership development studies for the Association. For over 20 years she was affiliated with the Brown University Library where she held a number of administrative positions. At Brown Raynna had responsibility for leading the library's strategic and annual planning, assessment, and organizational development initiatives. She has also worked in mid-sized academic libraries, in corporate libraries, and in health sciences/hospital libraries. Raynna has a master's in business administration and a master's in library science.

Steve Hiller

Steve Hiller is Director of Planning and Assessment at the University of Washington (UW) Libraries. He has been active in library assessment for nearly 20 years, presenting and publishing widely on a number of assessment-related topics during that period. His current areas of interest are in user-needs assessment, organizational performance metrics, and developing organizational capacity for assessment. Steve led the UW Libraries participation in the ARL Library Scorecard initiative, and currently coordinates Scorecard implementation there. He has served as an ARL Visiting Program Officer for Assessment and is also a library evaluator for the Northwest Commission on Colleges and Universities, a regional accrediting body.


Martha Kyrillidou is Senior Director for ARL Statistics and Service Quality Programs at the Association of Research Libraries, where, since 1994, she has worked to establish the StatsQUAL® suite of services that includes assessment protocols like LibQUAL+®, MINES for Libraries®, ClimateQUAL®, and ARL Statistics®. She has advocated "Effective, Sustainable, and Practical Assessment" for libraries through presentations and writings. Martha has a PhD from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign, an MLS and MEd from Kent State University, and an undergraduate degree from the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki in Greece.


Jim Self

Jim Self is Director of Management Information Services at the University of Virginia Library. Since 2005 he worked as a Visiting Program Officer for ARL, specializing in assessment and statistics. He previously served as Director of the Clemons Library at the University of Virginia and as head of the Undergraduate Library at Indiana University. Jim has conducted many presentations and workshops on assessment, statistics, surveys, and usability testing.
