Advancing Scholarly Communication

Julia Blixrud

News on scholarly communication issues appears regularly in the E-News for ARL Directors and ARL's Research Library Issues.

One of ARL’s strategic goals is the advancement of effective, extensible, sustainable, and economically viable models of scholarly communication that provide barrier-free access to quality information and will nurture new modes of scholarship that demonstrate promise for the future.

The ARL Scholarly Communication program articulates the dynamic system of scholarly communication, encourages the creation and implementation of new models for scholarly exchange that build on the widespread adoption of digital technologies, advocates for improved terms and conditions under which content is made available, and establishes alliances and develops relationships that promote open collaboration among stakeholders in the scholarly communication system.
