Share Share   Print

The RESTORE Act of 2007 (a.k.a. the Responsible Electronic Surveillance That is Overseen, Reviewed, and Effective Act of 2007) was introduced in the US House on October 9, 2007. If the act becomes law, it will amend the Foreign Intelligence Surveillance Act of 1978 (FISA) to establish a procedure for authorizing certain acquisitions of foreign intelligence and for other purposes.

A related act, the Protect America Act of 2007 became public law number 110-55 on August 5, 2007. The act amends FISA to provide additional procedures for authorizing certain acquisitions of foreign intelligence information and for other purposes. A sunset provision terminates this act 180 days after its enactment.
