ARL's strategic plan calls for the Association to "articulate, promote, and facilitate new and expanding roles for ARL libraries that support, enable, and enrich the transformations affecting research and research-intensive education." In this context, ARL's leadership development initiatives are focused on two priorities:
Provide executive leadership development to support succession planning for ARL member libraries.
Develop expertise in ARL directors and key research library staff around priority issues and skills as identified by ARL Strategic Directions and the ARL Board of Directors.
